RYA Helmsman Course

The Helmsman's course is the introduction to the world of motor cruisers. During the two days you will spend on board you will learn the essentials of living in a motor cruiser from stepping on board, identifying parts and equipment of the boat to personal safety, deck work and steering the boat adequately. The playground for your training will be the Saronic where you will have the opportunity to visit colorful little harbors and swim in crystal clear waters. There is no previous experience required for this course and anyone can join in.

Pre course experience: None
Course content: Skippering techniques for coastal and offshore passages
Ability after course: Boat preparation, boat handling, types of craft, engines and drives, engine operation and maintenance, safety and seamanship, rules of the road, securing to a buoy, berthing alongside, man overboard recovery.
