Our theory courses or shore based, as they are commonly referred, are structured to compliment your training on the water. The theory courses provide an opportunity for skippers and crew to learn about subjects such as navigation and meteorology. These principles are best taught in the classroom. The full value of our theory courses is only realized by applying the skills and knowledge learned in the classroom to practical situations on board a vessel. That is why our instructors apart from covering the entire theory component, will endeavor constantly to refer to practical situations.
We offer the full range of theory courses under the RYA syllabus. Basic Navigation and Safety Course, Day Skipper Theory, Coastal/Yachtmaster Theory and Yachtmaster Ocean Theory. Whether your needs are for going out for an afternoon sailing or wanting to cross an ocean, our theory courses on offer can fulfill your needs.
Our shore based courses can be run to suit your time needs. We are very flexible. Our time structure for doing these courses can be structured to meet your needs. The Basic Navigation and Safety Course can be completed within a sixteen hour period, while Day Skipper, Coastal/Yachtmaster Offshore and Yachtmaster Ocean require forty hours of tuition. Please consult with us to come up with an option that suits you.
